James Matthews House is one of the only historic buildings in Germantown, PA that you can spend the night in. It’s not only a beautiful bed and breakfast but a living, breathing monument to our rich Pennsylvania history. The house was bought by James Matthews in 1807, who added onto the house before selling it to the Germantown Academy in 1810. With only a few owners in its 200+ year history, the house has maintained its character making it a wonderful place to stay in for history enthusiasts. Check out House’s History to learn more about the house and the people who have lived there.

About your Hosts
Molly and Dan are both native Ohioans. They moved to Philadelphia in 2008, and immediately fell in love with the city. More than anything, they were drawn to Philadelphia’s history, communities and park system. Yet it took them until 2019 to move to Germantown, known for its rich history, strong & friendly neighborhood, and proximity to the Wissahickon Park! Even more, they were drawn to the James Matthews House – an opportunity to add to this wonderful historic property by making it their home. Further, the property is a perfect spot to host guests and share with them all that Molly and Dan love about Germantown and Philadelphia as a whole.
